Since Xircom was bought by Intel, who then decided not to continue production of the REX 6000, the REX 6000 is now an orphan device. Xircom has not released the USA version of the REX Extras, but these little applications are already available for REX's Japanese cousin, the Citizen DataSlim 2. An enterprising grass-roots effort has sprung up to translate these applications into English versions, as well as to create new applications from scratch. Since Xircom will not release a System Developer's Kit (SDK) for the REX, a working SDK has been put together from third party tools.
